Could the BPA in your drink bottle be causing acne?

According to a recent study, BPA could be a factor in acne development and severity.

BPA is commonly found in plastic water and food containers, so cutting back on single-use plastics and moving towards using more reusable plastic-free containers could be beneficial for people with acne.

This researchers looked at BPA levels in people with acne compared to people without acne, and found BPA levels were higher in the urine of acne patients. And, the higher the BPA levels, the more severe the acne.

This study had fairly small numbers, so it will be interesting if similar results are found in further studies in other countries.

If you wish to cut back on single-use plastics in order to help your acne, please keep in mind that you should still follow an appropriate acne treatment regimen.

If you’re having trouble clearing up your acne, speak to your local GP for a referral to a dermatologist.
