The Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask and Activator has been recalled because of the potential for eye damage in a small group of people with particular eye conditions.
To date there have been no reports of eye damage but anyone with the Acne Mask should stop using it immediately.
The Acne Mask is also being withdrawn from market.
According to Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration, repeated exposure may cause varying degrees of retinal damage.
Other potential adverse effects include eye pain, eye irritation and blurring of vision.
People taking medications that make the eye more light sensitive may also be at risk of potential eye injury.
Anyone experiencing issues with the Acne Mask should see their doctor.
Neutrogena is also asking people to report their experience at www.jnj.com.au/contact-us or by calling 1800 789 348.
A refund for the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask and Activator is available.
